What do we do? (post beer mat!)

Based in the “Costa Del Backyard” near Bedford, Koru Ironworks was founded by New Zealander, Mark Hejl (that’s me in the photo). after many years of contemplating the idea, and just like many other potential business starters; I had the idea on a beer mat but was too busy indulging in what was on top of the beer mat!
Upon making the big leap from beer to build; I embarked on a mission that took two years to get to this point. It took a long while as I could only work in the evenings after getting home from a full time job as a fabricator. (Thank goodness for long English summer days).
So now it’s time to pass some of that time and effort on to others and produce items others will be as eager to show off as I am.

What I try to make is stuff that I myself would be happy with buying. Many companies end up selling sub standard products because the person who actually makes the end product doesn’t give a monkeys’s about what goes out the door, as long as 4.30pm arrives reasonably soon.
The first thing I ask myself when I complete a project is; “would I be happy with this if I brought it?”
I endeavour to produce a product to the best of my knowledge and ability. I make all of the projects one off at a time so as you can see no items can be the same.
This is a small personal company so the customer is more likely to get a more personalized service. This is something that I intend to keep as a standard order.
